This year The
Women's Auxiliary chose to honor a very special
group of men and women, the Bryn Mawr Fire Company.
They have been involved with the children of St.
Edmond's Home for over 25 years. They have
also personally donated very generously to the home
and are the main event at the Annual Children's
Christmas Party. |

Bryn Mawr Fire Company Honorees,
Omar and
Santa's helpers.
|
After all, what
would a Christmas party be without Santa arriving on
a fire truck!
This special
group of people always looks forward to putting
smiles on the faces of the children. Their
enthusiasm has brought the real meaning of Christmas
to all of us. Not just at Christmas time but
all year long.

Dear Friends of
St. Edmond's Home,
Each
day when I walk through the doors of St. Edmond's I
see forty very precious children, and I am reminded
that this is the place where daily remarkable
encounters occur. The smiles on the children's
faces and the sparkle in their eyes tell us how very
happy they are. Through your generosity in the
Annual Love Bond Appeal we are able to enhance the
quality of life for our children, who touch the
hearts of everyone they meet. They teach us
what is important in life, and we are blessed they
are a part of ours.
We are also blessed by a Women's Auxiliary who
exemplifies dedication, commitment and love to our
children. Through their efforts, events like
the Annual Love Bond Appeal enable us to provide for
the unique needs of God's very special children.
We thank you for your compassion and generosity.
May God bless you for your continued spiritual and
financial support.

St. Edmond's Home is the first
Catholic Home for Handicapped Children in the United
States. It was opened in 1916 by Philadelphia
Archbishop Edmond Prendergast. The original
home, at 44th Street and Haverford Avenue, under the
auspices of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia,
primarily served children affected by polio.
In 1956 the Home moved to Robert Road in Rosemont.
Discovery of the Salk vaccine led to the virtual
elimination of polio, and St. Edmond's Home focused
on the care and treatment of children with severe
and profound mental and physical limitations.
Today, St. Edmond's is licensed as an Intermediate
Care Facility for children with mental retardation (ICF/MR)
by the State of Pennsylvania. With support
from a sensitive and committed staff, children with
numerous physical disabilities and mental
limitations participate in an active treatment
program. It is the objective of the
interdisciplinary team of nursing, medical and
therapeutic professionals to provide a holistic
outcome oriented plan of care to enhance the quality
of life for each child.
It is the policy of St. Edmond's Home for Children
to admit, treat and care for all individuals without
regard to race, religion, sex, or national origin. |
